A memorial service will be held at Runge Mortuary Tuesday, January 23 at noon. Friends and family are welcome to join an informal visitation prior to the service, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Veterans Section at Memorial Park Cemetery in Davenport.
Richard was born in Davenport February 23, 1937 to Karl Rudeen and Velma Beeler. He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1962. Richard worked for Alcoa and AD Huesing (Pepsi) Bottling Works for 33 years, retiring as Vice President Sales and Marketing to the world of leisure at the age of 62.
He cherished time with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed watching all sports, eating his favorite foods, RV’ing around the country and spending cold winters in Florida, South Padre, TX and Apache Junction, AZ.
Richard is survived by the love of his life, Carol Ann Merten, whom he just celebrated their 67th year of marriage. He also survived by many kids, grandkids and great-grandkids: son Scott and spouse Ann, granddaughter Alison and spouse Mitch Enright and great-grandkids Kennedy and Owen. Grandson Matthew and spouse Chloe, great-grandsons Witten and Walker; son Randy and spouse Sherri, granddaughter Julie and spouse Crystal Marshall, great-granddaughter Wilder. Granddaughter Sara and spouse Ryan Rogers, granddaughters Jordyn and Sydney; daughter Lori and spouse Tony Danielsen, granddaughter Kendal and spouse Keith Mohr, granddaughter Corie and spouse Cody Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his sister Marilyn Rudeen Mouradian, twin granddaughters Alexis and Nicole Rudeen.
Richard lived life to its fullest, with his quick wit and fun loving personality, he leaves behind a large family with great memories.
