Ralph Jacob “Jake” Shaffer, Jr., 61, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 2-6 pm at the Gypsy Highway (formerly Rusty Nail) in Davenport. Memorials may be made to his family. Jake was born August 23, 1959 in Glen Campbell, PA. He was the son of Ralph Jacob and Martha (Bone) Shaffer. He moved to Davenport shortly after birth, grew up in Davenport and graduated from Davenport West High School. He worked in various positions at Alcoa starting on September 11, 1978 and retired as an oiler in 2020. Jake was formerly married to Vicki Yeoman of LeClaire and together had three daughters. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at local establishments. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #105 and a former Eagles Club member.
Those left to honor his memory include daughters: Lyndsay (Jason) Tressel, Eldridge, Brittany (Kyle) Campbell, Atalissa, and Kalyn (John) Moore, Geneseo; grandchildren: Abel and Veda Tressel, Cole Campbell and one on the way; siblings: Betty Mumau, Indiana, PA, Sally Patterson, Dick (Diane) Shaffer and Lee (Linda) Shaffer, all of Davenport and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha “Marty” Wernecke.
