Patricia "Pat" R. Mesick, 88, of Bettendorf, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or “EWTN” Eternal World Television Network.
Patricia was born on August 29, 1935 in Lisbon, IA to Preston and Anna (Pavelka) McCall. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1952. She went on to earn her nursing degree from St. Anthony College of Nursing, Rock Island in 1954. She married Edward Mesick on April 14, 1956. They were married for 67 years. She worked as a registered nurse for 31 years in local hospitals, nursing homes and as an Industrial nurse. Along with taking care of her family, she loved watching butterflies and birds, and gardening. In her fifties, she found a new lease on life riding motorcycles to Colorado and playing racquetball. She was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Eucharistic Ministers and Evergreen 55+ senior club which she weekly baked bread during the Lenten season. She loved watching the Chicago Cubs and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
She is survived by her husband, Edward; children, Chuck (Sheila) Mesick, Jeff (Stephanie) Mesick, Martha Shafer, Tim (Gloria) Mesick and Becky Mesick; grandchildren, Stella, Preston, Lauren, Jen, Spencer, Patrick, Natalie and Ross; great grandchildren, Ursula, Ben, Will, Liam. Roi, Giovanni, Eden, Emerson, Charlie, Elijah and Isaiah; brother, Dean (Nyla) McCall and brother-in-law, Richard Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Joann Nelson, daughter, Dr. Sarah Mesick and son-in-law, Dr. Roi Shafer.
