Patricia (Henry) Dixon, 76, was called home to be with our Lord on December 5, 2023. A Wake service will take place Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 4:00 pm till 6:00 pm at Weerts Funeral Home. On Friday, December 15, 2023 a Wake one hour prior to the service is to start at 10:00 am, service will begin at 11:00 am at Third Missionary Baptist Church in Davenport. Patricia was born in Chicago, IL on December 20, 1946, to Joseph and Bessie (Jarett) Henry. She attended a private grade school in Chicago, IL. Patricia attended and graduated from Harlan High school in Chicago in 1964. After High School, she attended Upper Iowa University where she met her husband LaVerle Dixon who was also attending Upper Iowa University. On December 28, 1968, LaVerle and Patricia were married at St. Marks Methodist Church in Chicago, IL. In 1968 the couple moved to Davenport, Iowa. Patricia taught preschool beginning in 1968. After teaching preschool, she accepted a position as a bank teller at Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company. Patricia always desired to go back and get her degree. She decided to
go back to school to get her degree in education at Marycrest college in Davenport. Upon receiving her degree with honors, she accepted a position at Davenport North High School as a Secretary. After holding that position for a while, she accepted a teaching position at Williams Intermediate School in 1991. She taught 7th grade English for 15 years until her retirement in 2006. Patricia Dixon was a faithful member at Third Missionary Baptist Church in Davenport, Iowa.
Patricia is survived by her husband LaVerle Ivan Dixon of Bettendorf, Iowa, Children; Christopher Dixon of Davenport Iowa, Jennifer Dixon of Davenport, Iowa and Reverend Joseph (Ava) Dixon Sr. of Chicago, Illinois.
She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren Layne Elizabeth Dixon of Davenport, Iowa, Serenity Naomi Dixon of Chicago, IL and Joseph Patrick Dixon Jr. of Chicago, Illinois.
