Nancy Ann “Nan” Romine, 96, of Bettendorf, IA died on February 27, 2023 at her residence. Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Online, condolences and fond memories may be shared with the family at www.weertsfh.com
Nan was born January 1, 1927 at Mercy Hospital (Genesis West) in Davenport, Iowa. She was the daughter of Della (Schaefer) Romine and William Harold Romine. She graduated from Davenport High School (Central) in 1944 and from the University of Iowa in 1948. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
She went to work for the Davenport Girl Scout Council as Field Director in 1948 and was trained in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was then promoted to Executive Director. In 1958 she became Executive Director of the Kalamazoo, Michigan Girl Scouts Council. In 1964, she joined the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A national staff in Chicago, Illinois. She worked the Midwest states until she transferred to the San Francisco office of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.Fl. from which she retired to do private consulting. Later, she returned to the Quad City area as a retiree.
Her lifelong love of travel and desire to see the world led to a life around the world, several journeys to Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and the 50 United States. She also enjoyed reading, golf, and tennis.
Survivors include two nieces, Deborah (Herb) Ritter and Dawn Miller; one nephew, Michael (Pennie) Steen; niece-in-law, Jean Houston and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William H. Bromine Jr; nephew, Stephen Houston, and nephew-in-law Bob Miller.
