Mary Lou Moses, 88, of West Davenport passed away on February 23, 2023. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 28 at 12:00 p.m. at Weerts Funeral Home; visitation will be from 10:00 until the time of service. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo, IA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Buffalo Fire Department or the Blue Grass Presbyterian Church. Mary Lou was born August 2, 1934 to Donald C. and Viola R. (Buemann) Kerker, Sr. She attended grade school at Sacred Heart Cathedral and then went on to the Immaculate Conception Academy in Davenport where she was Captain of the Sports Association in her senior year. On July 26, 1952, Mary Lou married Donald W. Moses in Rock Island, IL. Don and Mary Lou farmed for 44 years on the family farm in rural West Davenport. In 2008, Mary Lou move to West Davenport and lived there for 14 years until her recent move to the Courtyard Estates in Walcott. Mary Lou worked over 26 years for the Davenport Community School District at Buffalo Elementary as an aide and kitchen staff. She enjoyed bowling and Chicago Cubs trips with her mother even though her mother was an avid Cardinals fan. Mary Lou played softball for many years up into her 40’s. She also coached her two oldest sons and youngest son in Little League. Through the years, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren in many school and sporting activities.
Mary Lou is survived by her four sons, Kenneth W. (Deborah) of Aiken, South Carolina, Donald H. (Betty) of Blue Grass, Dale A. (Shelley) of Blue Grass and David E. (Kelley) of Davenport; six grandchildren, Chris Moses (Trish), Kevin Moses (Julie), Andrew Moses (Courtney), Melissa Peeters (Jacob), Mindy Kahl (Cain) and Mandy Paulson (Griffin); fourteen great grandchildren, Brayden, Warner and Winnie Moses, Avery, Brody and Reagan Moses, Mason, Jaxon and Marcus Peeters, Finn and Tripp Kahl, Easton, Hazel and Walker Paulson; sisters-in-law, Darlene Kerker, Joyce Kerker and Myrna Johnson; along with many nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband. Don; grandson, Thomas Moses; her parents; brothers, Donald C. Kerker, Jr. and Richard Kerker; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Henry and Viva Moses and her brothers and sisters-in-law Jack and Lorraine Mahoney and Donald (Fats) Johnson.
