Mary Lou Matkovich

Graveside services for Mary Lou Matkovich, 77, of Davenport will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary. Mrs. Matkovich passed away on June 12, 2012 at her residence. Mary Lou Clauson was born on October 10, 1934 in Centerville, IA, the daughter of James and Maxine (Collier) Clauson. On November 23, 1950, she married Edward L. Matkovich in Centerville, IA. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2007. Prior to her retirement in 2005, Mrs. Matkovich worked at various retail stores, including Slagle Super Market. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cheering for the Cubs, gardening, and reading romance novels. She will be fondly remembered for her great cooking skills. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family, whether taking walks or going for rides around town. She is survived by her four Sons: Jim (Rose) Matkovich of Davenport, Dave (Kim) Matkovich of Davenport, Tom (Linda) Matkovich of Dahinda, IL, Tim (Marcia) Matkovich of Davenport; 8 Grandchildren; 8 Great-grandchildren; and her canine companion, Buddy. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Clauson.
