Mary “Jean” Lucas, 78, of Davenport, IA, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 29, also at the Weerts Funeral Home. Jean was born July 17, 1944, to John and Mary Dewey in Front Royal, VA. She grew up in Canton, IL, and relocated to Davenport during her High School years. Jean graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1962. On November 6, 1965, Jean was united in marriage to Craig Lucas in Davenport. Together, they had four boys: Michael, Brad, Brian, and Kevin. When the kids were younger, Jean provided in home daycare for many years. She worked for the Davenport Public School System as an administrative assistant for several years. Following her work there, she worked as an MLS secretary for Ruhl & Ruhl until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling and attending car shows. Jean served as a hospital volunteer for Genesis East and volunteered for the Gilda’s Club of the Quad Cities. She was a member of Edwards United Church of Christ and Quad Cities Cruisers.
Jean will be missed for her warm personality and genuine smile, by her husband, Craig; sons: Michael (Shayna Rever) Lucas, Brad (Cynthia) Lucas, Brian (Jennifer) Lucas, and Kevin (Melissa Carlson) Lucas; grandchildren: Chelsea Lucas, Liam Lucas, and Oscar Lucas; step-grandchildren: Kaya & Garrett Stringer and Drake Williamson; sisters: Kathryn (John) Bowen, Alice (Ron) Pratt, Sue (Kyle) Riley and Chris (Dale) Martin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Phelps Dewey.
