Services will be Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at 2 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Tuesday, noon until the service. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at the Hickory Creek Event Center. Memorials may go to King’s Harvest or “180”. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.
Marsha was born in Quincy, IL on April 8, 1939. She was the daughter of Roy and Mary (O’Hara) McComber. She married Kenneth Speth on July 29, 1978. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1994. She then married Jefferson Alison, III on December 9, 2000. He died June 27, 2016. She received her licenses for HVAC and Asbestos removal.
She worked for GID Company first as a cleaning lady at Chateau Knoll Apartments in 1978 and worked her way up the ranks where she became the first female maintenance supervisor for GID and went on to work until 1999 when she retired. After retiring, she worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Peoria Country Club.
She was an avid volunteer for the Sharp Coronado 2nd Best Thrift Shop where she won an award for volunteering 4000 hours. She enjoyed walking on and off the beach and loved flower gardening. She even won first place at the Coronado Flower Show for her home flower gardening. She collected seashells and together with her husband, Jeff, enjoyed traveling to many locations including: Hawaii, Italy, France and Spain and had gone on many cruises. She loved animals, especially dogs and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
Marsha loved to cook. Even though she was feisty at times, she was known as mom and grandma to everyone. She treated everyone with respect and was known for her honesty and love for her family, who were her world.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Mark McComber, Davenport, Missi (Jon) Thompson, Blue Grass, IA, Candi Horton, Davenport; grandchildren: Jason (Megan) Youngs, Amanda (Nathen) Shrum and Blain Thompson, great grandchildren: Angel Bell, Atalya Youngs, Keith Shrum, III and Baileigh Shrum, her beloved dog, Otto Gene, granddogs: Zandra and Juliette, brothers: Russ (Sherry) McComber, Davenport and Bob McComber, Phoenix along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by siblings: Richard McComber, Carol Lienweber, Sue Dillon, Buck McComber and Ron McComber.
Her children will most remember her by the following descriptions: caring, exceptional, loving and giving. May she rest in peace!
