Mark D. Saunders

Funeral services for Mark D. Saunders, 63, of Blue Grass, IA will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2011 at the Blue Grass Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in the Blue Grass Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport, IA. Mr. Saunders passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center – West Campus, Davenport. Mark Donald Saunders was born in Moline, IL on April 21, 1947, the son of Gale and Otie (Schroder) Saunders. On April 1, 1978, he married Dawn Turner in Blue Grass, IA. Mr. Saunders served a 4-year apprenticeship in auto mechanics and worked as an automotive mechanic at Dahl Ford for 43 years. After retiring in 2009, he became a parts runner for the Iowa 80 Truck Stop. He was a master gardener, a member of the Oak Hills Gun Club, a lifetime member of the NRA, and, a life long member of Blue Grass Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife: Dawn of Blue Grass; two Daughters: Anna Saunders and Megan (Matt) Sweet, both of Blue Grass; a Son: Thomas Saunders of Blue Grass; a Sister: Jane (Ben) Pfister of Rock Island, IL; two Granddaughters: Adrianne Sweet and Valerie Araiza, both of Blue Grass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Thomas Pfister. Memorials may be directed to Blue Grass Presbyterian Church.
