Mark Rice

Mark Richard “Koko” Rice, 66, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Genesis Medical Center in Silvis. Per his request, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com

Koko was born August 28, 1956 in Oskaloosa, IA. He married Sandy Sommers in 1996 in Davenport.

He was a member of the Indiana State Local Roofer’s Union #32 having worked at Roofing Technology in Davenport for over 30 years. He enjoyed racing his remote controlled cars, fishing, camping and enjoying a cold one, or two.

He had a great sense of humor and was willing to help anyone and everyone. One of his greatest joys was being with his beloved Boston Terriers, Cooper and Katy.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sandy, sisters: Jackie, Melinda and Jennifer, sister-in-law, Kelley, stepfather, Jeff Rice, sister-in-law, Kathy (Mike) Smeltzer, brother-in-law, Mike (Kris) Sommers, mother-in-law, Mary VandeLune, all of Davenport, Sandy’s stepmother, Betty Sommers, many nieces, nephews and extended family members along with his dogs, Cooper and Katy. His parents, brother Brian, sister Kathy and father-in-law, Don Sommers preceded him in death.
