Mark J. McGowan

Mark J. McGowan, 77, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. Per his wishes there will be no services at this time. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.Mark was born in Fonda, Iowa on June 20, 1938. He graduated from Heelan High School in Sioux City, Iowa and went on to graduate from St. Ambrose University with a degree in Business. He was Co-Captain of the 1960 St. Ambrose Football team and was inducted into the St. Ambrose Athletic Hall of Fame.On February 11, 1961, Mark was married to Ann T. Altfilisch. They were married for 54 ½ years. Mark worked for Molyneaux Insurance for 35 years. He enjoyed golfing, traveling with his wife, and special times with his family. Mark is survived by his wife Ann; children Pam of Denver, Colorado, Kevin of Savannah, Georgia, and Matthew (Suzanne) of Northville, Michigan; grandchildren Ashley, Conner, Matthew, Trevor, Elizabeth and Lauren; great grandson Sean Patrick; brothers Gerald and Edward; sisters Patricia, Corrine, Alexandra, Maureen, Mary, and Teresa; many brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.Mark was preceded in death by his mother Helen, father Alexander and sisters, Helen and Valerie.Memorial donations may be made to Genesis Hospice Care. The family wishes to extend a special and loving thank you to nurse Maggie and Dr. Ann O’Donnell.
