Marjorie A. Irwin, 86, of Davenport, died peacefully on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Grand Haven Retirement Community, Eldridge, IA. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday March 10, 2023 at the church. Marjorie was born on July 8, 1936 in Davenport to Arthur and Madge (Curtis) Wagner. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1954. Marjorie was united in marriage to David F. Irwin on August 4, 1956 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2010.
Marjorie was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She volunteered in many of the programs and activities of the church. She joined the St. Paul Staff in 1975, retiring in 1997 as the Assistant in Christian Education. She was the Preschool Director and Coordinator at the Sunday School Program for preschool through elementary school children. She directed Vacation Bible School, Christmas Programs and the nursery. She coordinated a VBS Day Camp trip to St. Paul Outdoor Ministry Center (Camp Shalom) Maquoketa, Iowa each year. Marge was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Hannah Caldwell Chapter holding many offices including Regent. She was also a member and treasurer of the Quad Cities Association of Young Children for many years.
Marge enjoyed and loved spending time with her family. She was a member of several Bible Study Groups. Her faith and love of our Lord was shared with many people and her family over her lifetime. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Dave, exploring many campgrounds in the United States and Canada. She enjoyed quilting, working in her yard, tending to her flowers and endless hours on her patio.
Survivors include her children, Deborah Brix (Edward Longenecker) and Stephen (Michelle) Irwin, both of Davenport; granddaughters, Katherine (Jacob) McCune of LeClaire, Elizabeth Brix of Park View, Jenna and Leah Irwin of Davenport; great grandchildren, Sophia McCune, Colten and Hazel (Brix) Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David, Parents, and brother, Curtis Wagner.
