Maria was born on September 18, 1936 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Maria went on to attend the University of Mexico, where she graduated in architectural design. She had a passion for fine arts. If you ask any of her family or friends they would laugh and tell you she had “expensive taste”. For Maria, she knew the history and value in every antique she collected, never leaving the store empty handed. She enjoyed telling the history behind every piece she had or stumbled upon. When she wasn’t collecting old relics, she would be reading or watching the history channel. She was fascinated by U.S. history. Shortly after graduating from the University of Mexico, Maria traveled to the United States where she would settle her roots and start a family. Maria was a role model to many including her four children. As a single mother she became the manager of housekeeping at the Kahl Home, home to the aged and infirm in 1977. The Kahl Home is where she met Robert ‘Bob’ Stromberg whom she later married in 1984. She dedicated many years of service, later retiring at the age of 78. Maria’s other interests were having large family gatherings, watching her favorite shows “Keeping up the Appearances”, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries”, “Big Bang Theory”, various novelas and Disney movies, listening to her music records - she and her husband loved ballroom dancing and listening to Jazz, and making new friends. Maria was very artistic, she loved drawing her family and things that she loved.
