Margaret R. Kent, 89, of Davenport passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m. at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Margaret was born July 14, 1927, in Chicago to Joseph and Margaret (Kavjack) Olik. She married Bernie M. Kent on November 1, 1947 in Chicago. Mr. Kent preceded her in death on May 17, 2006. Margaret was a devoted mother and homemaker. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and making unique crafts for family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening with her husband as well as canning vegetables. Additionally, Margaret took pride in baking a variety of kolaches during the holiday, a tradition that was passed on to her by her mother. Later in life, Margaret became more involved in fitness, especially walking and aerobics. Survivors include her children: Lynda O’Neill of Plainfield, Ill.; Carol (Richard, preceded in death) Walker of The Villages, Fla.; Bernie (Kim) Kent of Davenport; Michael Kent of Houston, Texas; and Brian (Becky) Kent of Bettendorf. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and one brother.
