Funeral services for Margaret K. Bettendorf, 94, of Davenport, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 until service time at the church. Mrs. Bettendorf died on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Davenport. Margaret Kathlyn Wollner was born on December 17, 1918 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Paul and Marie (Luedemann) Wollner. On November 5, 1943 she married Wilbur M. “Bud” Bettendorf in Davenport. He preceded her in death in February of 1961. In earlier years Mrs. Bettendorf was employed at the Bettendorf Company and also at the former St. Luke’s Hospital. She lastly worked at the K-Mart in Bettendorf from which she retired in 1984. She was a very active and faithful lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of the Quad City Times Plus 60 Club, and, had volunteered for many years with Meals On Wheels. Surviving members of the family include - 2 Granddaughters: Vicki Kramer of Oskaloosa, IA and Tami (John) Ahlen of Ft. Madison, IA; several Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great-Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews; 2 Cousins: Lois Kirkpatrick of Watertown, WI, and Joyce Epping of Audubon, PA; a Sister-in-law: Joan Garstang of Loganville, GA; 2 very close and special friends: Paula Pratt of Bettendorf and Sherry Nagle of Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Marlo, and a brother Richard. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund. Margaret’s life was an example of her confirmation verse… “Be content with the things that ye have, for He hath said, “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee” Hebrews 13.5
