Lois Lorene (Schmidt) Larew

She graduated from Odgen High School. Lois married Robert Larew at Plymouth Congregational Church in Des Moines, IA. They moved to Davenport, IA, where they lived until she died on April 18, 2023. She bravely dealt with Lewy Body dementia for several years with the help of Genesis healthcare, especially their family practice, physical therapy, neurology, palliative and hospice care teams.

Lois was a longtime member of Edwards Congregational, UCC Church where she was active in caregivers and sewing prayer shawls for those in need. Later in life, she enjoyed being a crossing guard for the Davenport School System. Also, she loved sewing, crafting, and doing the daily newspaper puzzles.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Schmidt; and sister, Bernadine Goetzman. She is survived by her husband, Robert Larew; daughter, Lisa Larkin (Patrick); and grandson, Logan. She is also survived by her siblings: Pauline Davis, Laverne Schmidt (Mary Ellen), Larry Schmidt (Jackie), and Gary Schmidt (Mabel), as well as many nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held at Edwards Congregational, UCC Church at 3420 Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, Iowa, 52807 on Friday May 5th, from 10:00-11:30 AM. At 11:30 there will be a brief memorial, followed by a luncheon at 12PM in the Fellowship Hall. All memorial contributions can be made to Edwards Congregational, UCC church in memory of Lois Larew.
