Larry P Johnston

An Irish wake to celebrate the life of Larry P. Johnston, 67, of Davenport will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23rd at Kelly’s Irish Pub, 2222 E. 53rd St., Davenport. Inurnment will be held at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Larry passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center – East Campus, surrounded by his family. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. Larry Paul Johnston was born on November 27, 1949 in Davenport, the son of Paul and Lucile (Lydon) Johnston. He was a graduate of North Scott High School. On August 30, 1968, he married Carol Smith in Davenport. Larry was a self employed carpenter for most of his career, but had also been employed by George Brothers and Design Build. Larry’s final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ donation. He is survived by his Wife: Carol Johnston of Davenport; Daughters: Kelly (Michael) Chavez of Del Rio, TX, Michele (Daniel) Krum of Davenport; 5 Grandchildren: Amanda Rakestraw, Emily Rakestraw Cardona, Evan Chavez, Danielle Krum, and Nicholas Krum; and 3 Great-Grandchildren: Layla, Jack, and David. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley George, Lorna Schafnit, Phyllis Tirre, and Donna Harland. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
