Kenneth “Kenny” Earl Raley, Sr., 85, of Davenport, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Genesis East Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 2:30 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Kenny was born October 20, 1927 in Oskaloosa, IA; the son of Samuel and Nellie (Kimes) Raley. He married Dorothy Ruth Lamb on October 19, 1955 in Yuma, AZ. He served in the US Army during WWII with the US Constabulary until 1958.
In the 1950’s he began working for the M& St Louis Railroad and later moved to Davenport where he went to work for the City of Davenport retiring in 1987 as a mechanic supervisor.
His memberships included: Central Church of Christ, American Legion Post #26, V.F.W, AMVETS and the US Constabulary Association where he served as Quartermaster. Kenny bowled for many years in leagues. He enjoyed vintage cars and racing, especially stock and sprint cars. He also loved to play pool, dance and will be remembered for having a great sense of humor.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dorothy, Davenport; son, Ken (Faith) Raley, Jr., Davenport; two grandchildren, Tony Alcala and Kristy Anderson, both of Davneport; two great grandchildren; brother, Richard, Hudson, WI and several nieces and nephews. His parents and siblings: Edmond, Emma Jean, Alma, Sammy and Danny preceded him in death.
