Kay belonged to the Order of the Sisters of the Presentation in Dubuque, Iowa, with the chosen name of Sister Stephanie. After she left the convent, she moved to Davenport, where she met her husband, Dick.
Kay was the beloved wife of Dick Bashore; stepmother of Daniel Bashore (wife, Fadia, children, Kristin and Thomas).
Kay was the second daughter of Victor and Madelyn Schwartzhoff, Davenport, Iowa, and beloved sister to Winifred Pell, Jeri Schwartzhoff (Gina) (Sharon-deceased), Marsha Havemann (Jack), Maureen Schwartzhoff Williams (David), Ann Schwartzhoff, Jan Schwartzhoff (Jane), and Kim Schwartzhoff. Kay is preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Schwartzhoff (Ning) and Mario Schwartzhoff. Kay is also preceded in death by her in-laws Vera M.(Pritchard) Bashore and Earl R. Bashore.
Kay had numerous nieces and nephews and took so much delight in their accomplishments and loved them each dearly. Kay never missed a moment to celebrate them by sending a personal card or gift.
Kay and Dick were globetrotters in their younger years and had many adventures seeing the world. Memorable trips included a tour of Europe with her parents and a visit to Korea. They also traveled the United States by camper, learning about the country's history.
Kay had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was a very social and hospitable lady who saw the good in everyone she met.
Kay Frances Bashore’s passing left a void on this Earth, and all her relatives and friends will dearly miss her.
A memorial service will be held at the chapel at Ridgecrest Retirement Village in Davenport, Iowa, at 1:00 pm on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
Burial will be in Garrison, Iowa.
