June Marie Wiese, 89, of Davenport, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Genesis West Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015, at 10:00 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Sunday, July 5, 2015, from 3 to 6 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. June was born October 18, 1925, in Davenport, IA; the daughter of Harry and Evelyn (Luthje) Meyer. She attended a one-room school through 8th grade, and graduated from Davenport High School in 1943. She enjoyed organizing and attending her 70th year class reunion. She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1987.
She was united in marriage to Lyle E. Wiese on August 1, 1953, in Clinton, IA; he preceded her in death on January 28, 2001.
Lyle and June did a lot of traveling which included all 50 states and much of Canada. Also, June went to Europe a few times in recent years. She received her 50 year W.I.B.C. pin for 50 years of bowling. She also liked playing cards and golfing. She just enjoyed life a lot; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She volunteered at the QC Tourism Bureau, RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), and was active at Grace United Methodist Church in past years. Her memberships also included the Liedertafel, Putnam Museum Guild, Davenport Moose Lodge, Davenport Elks and numerous card clubs.
Survivors include her children and spouses: Cindy Johnson, (Michael Turner) Port Townsend, WA; Steve and Terry Wiese, Ada, MI; LuAnne and Michael Lopez, Davenport; grandchildren and spouses: Nicole Olvera-Fout (Jeff Eaton), Lucas (Stephanie) Olvera, Emily and Matthew Reinhart and Patrick (Kate Jonynas) Wiese and great grandchildren: Lauren and Julia Fout, Nathan and Cole Reinhart.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Lester.
June had always been very proud of her German and farming heritage.
