Jon “Jack” Johnson, 86, of Bettendorf, Iowa; passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Genesis East Medical Center. A memorial service to honor his memory will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11am at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 5-7pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Memorials in Jack’s name may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or to Camp Courageous.
Jack was born on 24 August 1936 to Harry and Alvera Johnson in Chicago, Illinois. Following high school, Jack joined the United States Naval Reserves. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joyce Koopmann, on February 14, 1959. In 1967, Jack and Joyce started Johnson H20 and he retired in 2014. Jack and Joyce would travel to various Jazz Festivals and enjoyed sightseeing. He was an active member at Redeemer Lutheran Church, a Boy Scout Leader, and President of the Iowa Water Well Association. Jack was always one to let his actions talk for him and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 64 years, Joyce; two sons Joel (Diane Frascello) Johnson and Jay (Pam) Johnson; two grandchildren Tyler (Sara) Johnson and Kelcy Johnson; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Judy Crisci, and his brother Jim Johnson.
