John D. Martinson, age 83, of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2022 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private Burial will take place at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the family. Memorials will be placed in an educational fund for the great grandchildren. John was born on April 22, 1939 in Devils Lake, ND to Russell and Irene (Erickson) Martinson. He was united in marriage to Denice Anderson on November 10, 1956. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2005. John was united in marriage to Loretta Harmon on September 1, 2007 in Bettendorf. John worked at Alcoa as a machinist, retiring in 1997.
John was an avid golfer in his younger years. He enjoyed watching country westerns, especially Gunsmoke. John was an avid Nascar fan; family and friends knew not to call him on a Sunday when he was watching his favorite driver, Karl Edwards. John was also a Iowa Hawkeye sports fan.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta; children, Kim Mueller of Davenport, Tammy (Andy) White of Bettendorf; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Donna Anderson and Gail (Charles) Peahl; and three step grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Denice, one son, Russell Martinson; four brothers and one sister.
