JoAnn was born February 26, 1931 in Davenport to Earl and Mildred (Hennings) Klein. She married Melvin Conklin on April 15, 1950 at St. Marks Church in Davenport.
She graduated from Davenport High School and briefly attended Marycrest College.
She loved her job as a gym teacher at the Villa de Chantel and later as a child care supervisor at the Annie Wittenmeyer Home. Her passion was playing golf and giving golf lessons, but she also thoroughly enjoyed playing bingo. She was a loving and loyal friend who never met a stranger. JoAnn had more friends and associates than was possible to count. She was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs, but her true love was the Iowa Hawkeyes (…until the game is won!). The greatest joy in her life however was her family, spending time with her son, grandkids and attending their events. She was so proud of the newest member of the family, her great grandson, Lucas.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Doug, Davenport, grandchildren: Joseph (Allie) Conklin, Sarah Conklin, Maddy (Tony) Evans and Ellen Conklin and her fiancé, Mike Budzinski and great grandson, Lucas.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
