Jo was born February 24, 1945 in Davenport, IA to parents Betty (Fisher) and Charles Luther. She graduated with honors from Assumption High School in 1963 and began college at Clark and St. Marys, but was eager to start a family. She married the love of her life, Jim Meister on June 11th, 1966. Jo was devoted to her family, an avid member of the Catholic church, a scholar, and an artist. A busy mother and wife, Jo put family first with pride. She cheered, supported, and took thousands of photos of her loved ones. She was always available with wise advice. As an artist, she could be seen at the Studio 15 gallery in Davenport or the Beaux Arts Fair featuring her work. She often leant her skills to the church and schools. Art was everyday for her. Besides painting, she was a gifted seamstress, teacher, cook, crafter, poet and wordsmith. She also loved to play piano, sing, and dance. In her 60’s, after she raised her three sons, she returned to college to earn two master’s degrees in theology and fine arts at St. Ambrose University, as well as a degree in spiritual direction at Creighton University. She took her degrees to become the Director of Adult Formation at All Saints Catholic Church. Her passionate drive and accepting nature shown in all she accomplished.
