Jay D. Groenbeck

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, with visitation beginning one hour prior. He will be laid to rest in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Essence of Life Hospice, Amana, IA. Jay was born August 16, 1946 and raised by his beloved grandmother, Grace Pearl Groenbeck. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. On May 29, 1970 he was united in marriage to Linda Iverson in Rock Island, IL.

Jay loved his family and dog, Teddy, dearly and they were the center of his life. He lovingly and selflessly cared for his wife during her illness. Jay enjoyed being outside and doing yard work. Despite being known as a jokester, he remained regimented from his time in the Army.

(Alisa) Groenbeck, Bettendorf, IA, and Lisa (Michael) Norris, Davenport, IA; grandchildren: Chris Groenbeck, Justin (Christina) Hansen, Vincent (Kenna) Lackey, Sa’Dee Groenbeck (Tyler Mangels), Stephen Robinson (Liz Wood), Brandon Norris, Baylee Norris, Jay B. Groenbeck, Evan Hansen, Nicholas Robinson, Zachary Groenbeck, Austin Groenbeck, and Darin Hansen; along with great grandchildren: Emma Hansen, Sophia Hansen, Myrrha Lackey, Catherine Lackey, and Peighton Grayburn.
