Visitation will be 12:00pm to 2:00pm Friday, April 21, 2023 at Runge Mortuary. Her funeral service will follow at 2:00pm Friday, Runge Chapel. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in her name.
Janice was born May 12, 1935 in Davenport, IA to Albert & Helen (Ehlers) Storjohann. She grew up on several Scott County farms and graduated from DeWitt High School. She attended St. Luke’s Nursing School Davenport, graduating in 1956. She was united in marriage to Charles A. Peters on May 16, 1959; they later divorced. Janice worked 5 years as a nurse before taking a break to raise their family. In 1985 she resumed her passion for nursing at Osteopathic Hospital Davenport. Over the years she held several nursing positions ending her career as the parish nurse for St. Matthew’s & Trinity Lutheran Churches Davenport.
Janice was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where she shared her love for singing in the choir. Along with her love to sing, she yodeled, danced, and enjoyed gardening. Janice was a strong advocate for everyone to be “active with their Thyroid Health”. The family would like to thank Genesis Hospice and especially the staff at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility for the excellent care she received.
Survivors include daughters Chriss Smith, Orion, IL, Sheila Peters, Davenport, IA, & Joan (Manny) Ortiz, Port Byron, IL; Grandchildren Jessica (Kyle) Downing, Orion, IL, Ian Smith, Alpha, IL, & Eric Smith DeKalb, IL; Great Grandchildren Haylee, Abigail, & Evan Downing; and a sister Kathy Conklin, Davenport, IA
Janice was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert & Daniel Storjohann.
