James Howard Westerfield

James Howard Westerfield, 82, of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday, June 28th, 2019 at Bettendorf Health Care. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 5th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Mr. Westerfield was born in 1937 in Preston, MS to Cody and Chearty Westerfield. He married Ruth Jones in 1961 in Davenport. His employment spanned Bishops Cafeteria, Warren L. Langwith auto dealership and John Deere. In addition to spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed working on cars, fishing, cooking, listening to blues and watching westerns.

Survivors include his sons Jeffrey Westerfield, James “Karl” (Doris) Westerfield, Jerry (Denise) Westerfield and Charles Taylor; sisters Verial Rush of Davenport, Katherine Tot of St. Louis, MO, and Shirley Craig of Rock Island, IL; 13 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Georgia and a son Fred Taylor.
