James Earnest Vancil

He grew up in the Avon, IL area before traveling to South America with his parents when they went as missionaries in the 1960’s. Upon returning to the U.S. he graduated from Avon, IL High School in 1971 before attending Calvary Bible College and then began a career in construction. Jim met the love of his life, Elizabeth, who he married on November 8, 1975 in Gilson, IL. They moved to the QC area from Bushnell, IL in 1983 where he worked in the security profession at various companies until his retirement.

Jim maintained his very strong faith and belief in God throughout his entire life and was always highly involved in his churches. That involvement created lifelong connections of love and family that sustained him throughout his entire life and will continue to support his family.

Cremation rites have been accorded at this time and a celebration of an amazing life will be held at a later date.

Jim is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” of Davenport, daughter, Vicki (Jim) Bowers, Colona IL, grandson, Brandon (Nicole) Bowers, Galesburg IL, granddaughter, Ashli (Derek) Bowers-Foster, Colona IL, two great grandsons, Frederick and Ricky, and his mother, Helen Joan, Galesburg IL.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother.
