Expressing my sincere condolences to Jim's family.  Jim and I became friends at Buena Vista, where we shared many memories together.  There were five Jims at the end of the hall in the dorm, so Jim became known as "Ernie." He was a groomsman at my wedding and later was very supportive when my wife died, travelling some distance to spend several days with me and my children.  I attended his graduation at Princeton and, although we became separated geographically, we continued our friendship via facebook.  Jim was a great person, always friendly and helpful. I am saddened to hear of his passing.

Jim and my husband, Rev. Alan Minarcik, were classmates at Princeton Theological Seminary; graduated together June 1968, the day Robert Kennedy was shot; reunited at the 50th Reunion May 2016 where they continued their conversation; and now since Alan passed away Sept. 2021, their conversation continues as they both rest with God. So very sad to hear this news.  Jim was our minister at Lake City Presbyterian Church for a time.   He and Jean both lovely people and adored by all who know them.   We loved his colorful stories  and  the sense of humor that he brought to his sermons.  God bless you all as you grieve his passing but know he is in the loving arms of the God he served! Jim was our friend and pastor.  We knew him in the years at St. Andrews.  He stood by us in the 90's when our niece was on a ventilator after an awful car accident. All those days in the hospital, Jim was there.  We knew him over the years through all the joys and tribulations of life.  Since he came back from South Carolina, he took a wonderful trip though our state of Michigan.  He's an unofficial Yooper! We will miss him dearly but have the assurance of heaven in the future. I remember Jim and I eating school lunch at the pool hall. Hamburgers were 20 cents.

As a colleague in Florence, I was at the hospital during the tragic time following his daughter’s death. I well remember visiting little Faith. You all have been through so much. He was such a wonderful kind man. We often sat together at Rotary Club and his stories were often of Iowa. My prayers are with you all. God’s peace be with you. 

You were and always will be such a special and beautiful human being. You always brought peace and laughter. 
 You will always be loved, thought of and remembered. You loved my parents and they loved you.  You loved Cindy,Connie,Jimmy and I and we will all miss you, love you and you will find all of us one day. I love you my God father Jim. Love always, your God daughter Mary

Jim will be missed. As a colleague in ministry, he was always so encouraging to me as I was just starting out. I was grateful for Jim's friendship and warm welcome.


Jim was a great colleague and friends during the years he was a member of New Harmony Presbytery here in South Carolina. He was a true servant of the church who used his gifts to bless many through his teaching and preaching. My deepest condolences to the family.

I met Jim when  he was called to St Andrew's.  Seven years later, he officiated at my wedding.  I always remember his smile and his upbeat manner.  He was a good man and I am glad I got to know him.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Jim‘s passing. He was a very dear friend and pastor and mentor to all of us at Mount Zion presbyterian Church in Bishopville, South Carolina. he is truly missed by all of us. I was a student at Buena Vista with James  I was a Methodist preparing for ministry. James a Presbyterian.  In my senior year I pastored a small rural church at Palmer Iowa. When I left for seminary James pastored that Church.  a man at Palmer died and in his will gave $1,000 to The church. They gave have to me and half to James. You fought the good fight. Jim was a wonderful minister at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian church.  He baptized our son and my son would often stop at the church office just to talk to him. Jim will be missed by many. His family has our deepest sympathy! God bless you!

Prayers to all of you.  I know he will be missed.  I am a cousin of Jean's.  My mother, also named Beulah, spent her last days at the Presbyterian Home in Florence, S.C.  Jim was a faithful visitor to her and we appreciated him so much.

Chris, I am so sorry for your loss.  Jim was a good man and I have many fond memories of our childhood at St Andrews.  You and all of his loved ones are in my thoughts.  

I have known Jim since our junior high years.  The Clark and Schewe families have been intertwined since Jim's father and mine were young. 

Of the many memories I have with Jim, among the fondest are the summers we painted houses and barns together.
