Helen M. Schroeder

Helen Schroeder, 87, of Bettendorf, IA passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at The Fountains Senior Living Community. Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2018 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Helen was born September 16, 1930 in Centerville, IA to Ross and Juanita (Fulmer) Miller. She was united in marriage, to the love of her life, William Schroeder on November 18, 1949, Davenport, IA. They went on to own the Bowladrome Lanes, Rock Island, IL. Later in life they owned Zacks’ Ice Cream Shop, Venice, FL. They loved the water and enjoyed boating, spending summers living on their houseboat on the Helen Marie at Sunset Marina, Rock Island, IL. Saturday nights were considered date night and were spent together dancing; a tradition the couple enjoyed throughout their 64 years of marriage.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debbie Roggensack, Lynn Schroeder and Karen (Randy) Keding; grandchildren: Amy (Steve), Katy (Scott), Matt, Kayla (Greg) and Lindsey; seven great grandchildren and sister, Lovetta Able.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Allen; sister, Delores; granddaughter, Jenny Lynn, great granddaughter, Kenna Reese.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Fountains for the exceptional care Helen received the last year and half there.
