Funeral services for Harold Vannoy, 87, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 in the chapel at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Ridgecrest. Interment will be held at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements. Harold Dwaine Vannoy was born in Ottumwa, IA on May 24, 1924, the son of Ted and Elizabeth (Carter) Vannoy. He served in the United States Army in the European Theater during World War II. On June 26, 1943, he married Marjorie Donaldson. Mr. Vannoy worked for 36 years as a clerk for the CM&W (Milwaukee) Railroad Company. He retired in 1982. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading, and was a member of the American Legion Post #246 in Moline, IL. He is survived by his Wife of 68 years: Marjorie of Davenport; two Daughters: Janice Nelson and Judy (Mike) Stoefen, both of Davenport; a Brother: Bobby (Donna) Vannoy of LaHabra, CA; 7 Grandchildren: Scott (Amy) Stoefen of Bartlett, IL, Kurt (Becky) Stoefen of Colorado Springs, CO, Tracy (John) Paustian of Davenport, Julie Stoefen (Ken Bailey) of Moline, IL, Brad (Kate) Stoefen of Parkview, IA, Jennifer (Steve) Goldermann of Davenport, Bill Matz of Oakpark, IL; and 10 Great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings. Memorials may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation or to the Ridgecrest Foundation to be used for the Scholarship Fund.
