Harold W. Seifert, 87, of Davenport, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel with visitation one hour prior to service at the mortuary. Harold was born on April 21, 1927 in Lisbon, IA, the son of William and Minnie (Steffen) Seifert. He was born and raised on a farm and graduated from Wilton High School in 1945. He was united in marriage to Marian Sindt on September 16, 1950.
Harold had several jobs through the years as a factory worker at J.I.Case, Bettendorf; delivery driver for Sawyer Biscuit Co., Bettendorf; city driver for Dohrn Transfer Co., Rock Island; over-the-road driver for Hon Industries, Muscatine; and over-the-road driver for Roadway Express Inc. Rock Island. He retired May 22, 1991.
He received many special achievements; 1982 Driver of the Year Award – Hon Industries; 3 million miles Safe Driving Award – Roadway 1990; 15 year Safe Driver Award – Dohrn Transfer Co. – 1982 and 1981 Fuel Efficient Driver of the Year – Dohrn Transfer.
Harold was a humble, kind, loving and gentle man. He and Marian enjoyed each other’s company and loved to travel and garden. He liked building and fixing things and was a Jehovah’s Witness.
Survivors include his wife, Marian Seifert, Davenport; son and daughter-in-law, Dan (Dina) Seifert, Denver, CO; daughter, Della Shook, Davenport; daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Scott) Butler, Parker, CO; son, Darrel Seifert, Davenport; granddaughters, Amber (Justin) Stock and Aimee Shook; Davenport; grandson, Mitchell (Kaitlyn) Seifert ,Davenport; grandsons, Michael Dempsey and Matthew Seifert, Bettendorf; grandsons, Nicholas (Adalee) Butler and Jeremy Butler, Aurora, CO; grandson, Jesse Brubaker, Tulsa, OK; grandson, Jeremy Brubaker, Garland, TX; and granddaughter, Janelle Brubaker, Garland, TX; and many great grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jared Shook.
