A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Monday, April 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport, with visitation beginning at 1pm. He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Harold was born February 16, 1932 to Henry and Hilda (Steenbock) Grimm in Dixon, IA. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. On July 2, 1955 he was united in marriage to Shirley C. Rauch in Davenport, IA. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage until her passing on November 2, 2019. Harold worked at Sears Roebuck for many years before becoming an owner/operator of 2 Happy Joe’s franchises.
Harold was known for his humor. He was always smiling and had a twinkle in his eye. At Luther Crest Apartments he was known as the “flag man”. Harold had a passion for old cars. He and his wife, Shirley were 50 year members of the Antique Ford Car Club. More than anything, he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They made his world.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Deb Meyer (Bob Batchelor), Brenda VanEslander, and Ross (Tina) Grimm; sister, Dolores Esbaum; brother-in-law, Arnold Rauch; grandchildren: Cori (Shane) Ritchie, Chad Hoing, Jamie (Kyle) Schroeder, Tiffany (Justin) Leatherman, Joe (Caitlin) Skiff, and Cody Grimm; along with great grandchildren: Nolan, Delaney, Caden, Landen, Max, Cora, Sophia, Ryland, and Ava; many cousins; and special cousin, Bob Grimm.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents, and 2 brothers.
