Gordon S. Fowler, 100, passed away at his home on April 16, 2024 in Davenport, Iowa. Services will be held at Weerts Funeral home on Monday, April 29, 2024. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with service to follow after at 3:00 pm. Innichement will take place at a later date at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. He was born October 4, 1923 near Lohrville, IA to Dave & Mabel (Stinogle) Fowler. He graduated from school in 1941, enlisted in the U.S. Air Corp in 1942 and served his country well earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals on an extended tour of duty flying "The Hump" in the China-Burma-India theatre. He began his public relations career in Spirit Lake, IA Chamber of Commerce. He married Sharon Fuqua in 1950, later moving to the Davenport Chamber of Commerce in 1952. He joined the Ramsey Advertising Agency and was there until 1998. He continued working part-time in marketing and public relations through 2014 at TAG communications in Davenport. Retiring at 90 years old. He was a member of the Davenport Country Club, The Outing Club, The Moose, and St. John's Methodist Church. He was active in the Boy Scouts, Church activities, PTA, Jr. Achievement, and a variety of community projects. He loved golf, camping, and gardening.
Among family members left to honor his memory are his daughters Paula (Brad) Witt of Davenport, IA and Linda (Kevin) McGonnell of Cleveland, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his son Keith, daughter Laura, his brother and his parents.
