Per his wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethel Assembly of God, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in his name to Women’s Ministry Bethel Assembly of God. Gary was born October 31, 1936 in Marshalltown, IA to Lowell and Velva (Westman) Morrison. He proudly served in the United States Army. He retired from Johnson Sheet Metal in East Moline after many years of dedicated service. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carol Smith, on May 9, 1959 in DeWitt, IA.
He loved people, telling jokes and stories, and reminiscing about family moments. He enjoyed horticulture, tending his garden, bird watching, camping, and cats. Gary was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Dee Morrison of Rock Island, IL; son, Jeff Morrison of Laurel, MT; grandson, Samuel Morrison of Maysville, IA; step-daughter, Diane Cummings of Chicago, IL; and special nephew, Scott Smith of Rock Island, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and brother, Carl.
