Genevieve N. Anderson, 101, of Davenport, Iowa passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Ridgecrest Village. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 10:30am at the Ridgecrest Village Chapel; visitation will be before the service starting at 9:30am. Memorials in Genevieve’s name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or to the Ridgecrest Village Foundation Fund.
Genevieve was born on August 30, 1921 in Swedesburg, Iowa to Albert and Anna Hult. Genevieve was baptized into the ELCA on September 29, 1925 and confirmed on September 29, 1935 at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to Robert Anderson on June 20, 1948; he passed away in 1995. Genevieve graduated from Olds, Iowa High School and attended AIC Business School in Davenport, Iowa. Genevieve worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for seven years before she and Robert were married. When her children were in JR High and High School she worked at Wagner’s Printing in Davenport and retired in 1987. She was a school crossing guard for two years for the Grant Elementary School. She also volunteered at various elementary schools for 10 years helping the children read. Genevieve also volunteered at the Putnam Museum. She was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church since 1942 where she served on various boards including the Altar Guild, teaching Sunday School, and singing in the choir. She enjoyed making lap covers for local nursing home residents and veterans; she also helped to make quilts for those in need through-out the world. She enjoyed reading, doing jig-saw puzzles and word puzzles, and traveling the world with her friends and family.
Those left to honor her memory are her sons Gary, Duane (Peggy), and Larry (Mary Beth); her grandchildren: Jordan (Justin), Robert (Stephanie), Michael and Erica; great-grandchildren: Brynlee, Camden, Logan, Charlotte, and Avery; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, and siblings Inez, Margaret, Frederick, LaVerne, Vivian, and Herbert.
