Gary L. Wagner, Sr. 82, of Le Claire, Iowa passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at his home in Le Claire with his loving family by his side. Per his request cremation rites have been accorded and services will be held at a later date.
Gary was born on June 25, 1939 to Jesse and Mildred Wagner in Iowa City, Iowa. Gary grew up in Muscatine, Iowa and graduated from Muscatine High School in 1957. He was united in marriage to Judy Baldridge on November 18, 1969. Gary worked for AT&T in Burlington, Iowa for many years. He received a special award from AT&T for making Burlington the first city in Iowa to have the Emergency 9-1-1 Service. Gary also served on the communication security board for President Jimmy Carter when he and the First Lady visited Burlington, Iowa. He served on many different boards while in Burlington including the Salvation Army, Lyons Club, United Way, and the Burlington Golf Club which he was also the president. Gary had a job transfer to Davenport in 1989 and at that time they moved to Le Claire. While in Le Claire he was the IT Specialist for the city. In his free time, Gary enjoyed golfing, going out on the river on the boat and jet ski and spending time with his family. He was the go to guy if you had something that needed to be fixed and he enjoyed building things from scratch.
Those left to honor Gary’s memory are his wife of 52 years, Judy; children Gary (Lisa) Wagner, Jr., Jeffery (Cassie) Wagner, Beth (Mike) Wagner, TeAnn (Robert) Wagner; 21 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Wagner, and a grandson Troy.
