On May 21, 2012, a mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed after a long and wonderful life. Florence passed under the care of Genesis Clarissa C. Cook Hospice. Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday May 26th, 2012 at Runge Mortuary. Visitation will Friday May 25th, 2012 from 4-7 PM at Runge Mortuary. Burial will follow service at Davenport Memorial Park, with a luncheon to follow at Runge Mortuary Community Room. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.rungemortuary.com.
Florence was born in Davenport, Iowa on 6/14/1917 to Ella Ast and Edward Burmeister. Florence was a homemaker whose passions included her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting and baking. She and her husband liked their involvements with the Moose Club, Northwest Turner Society and many evenings in fellowship and dancing at The Col Ballroom on 4th Street. Florence was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband Leon Skinner of 51 years, her former husband John P. Speth, her sister Frances Karben, brother Le Roy and Elmer Burmeister.
She leaves behind her sons Ronald Speth (Nancy) of Springfield, Oh., James Skinner (Kathleen) of Wayne, IL., Steven Skinner (Linda) of Surprise, AZ., Richard Skinner (Linda) of Wildwood, MO., and daughter Sharon Guilbeault (Armand) of Las Vegas, NV., and Susan Campbell (Steven) of Las Vegas, NV., 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
