There will be a private viewing for family. No services will be held. There will be a Celebration of Life at Tina and Damen’s house on Saturday, May 1, at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will take place at Runge Mortuary & Crematory. Evelyn Mae Gripp was born October 13, 1930 in Davenport, to William and Hazel Gripp. She married Johnny W. Wright, Jr. on November 11, 1948.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an in-home babysitter for many years. She loved doing crafts, playing Bingo, and was an avid Campbell Soup collector. Evelyn was a member of the B.P.O. Does Drove #217 at the Davenport Elks Lodge for many years.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Johnny W. Wright, Jr.; daughters, Diane (Steve) Funk, Linda (Greg) Ashby, Mary Wright, and Donna (Bill) Smith. Sons, David Wright, Ray (Joy) Wright and Ron (Marcia) Wright; along with 16 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David; sisters, Vera and Millie; brothers, Widge, Frank, and Jack; and son-in-laws, Gregory Ashby and Steve Funk.
