Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Rosehill Cemetery, Buffalo. A celebration of life will be held at 2PM, Sunday, October 25, 2015 at The Knights of Columbus, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Eugene was born on August, 3, 1928 in Vandalia, Missouri, the son of Elmer Lee and Julia Ann (Holder) Kemp. He was united in marriage to Edith M. Eskew on September 18, 1949.
Eugene was a merchant marine and had worked at Caterpillar for over 30 years, retiring in 1988. He and his wife moved to the area in 1959. He was an avid car buff, very innovative, and loved to create things and build houses. He taught his boys the skills to follow in his footsteps. Eugene was a man of few words and was very compassionate. He was always willing to help others and would give you the shirt off of his back if needed.
Those left to honor his memory include, wife Edith Kemp, Davenport; sons Daniel Kemp, Davenport, Steve (Sandy) Kemp, Davenport, Lee (Kandy) Kemp, Buffalo, and Arthur E. (Linda) Kemp, Walcott; 13 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jeanette Marie Bucholz, brothers John and Dan Kemp, and sister Ruth Colvin.
