Ame was born August 29, 1915 in Keystone, IA; the son of Henry and Margarete (Schwarze) Stieger. He married Lucille Chittick on April 17, 1938 in Cedar Rapids, IA; she preceded him in death.
He had worked for Consolidated Foods and Valley Produce prior to his retirement. He was an avid golfer, often bragging about his golfing prowess; “golfing his age (80)” and his hole-in-one. His memberships included Newcomb Presbyterian Church and he was a life member of the Davenport Elks Lodge. In later years, he spent his nights with his card playing group; they were very important in his life.
Those left to honor his memory include his son, Terry Stieger; daughters-in-law: Sharon Stieger and Audrey Stieger; grandchildren, Lisa Crauwels and Scott Stieger and great grandchildren: PJ, Chris, Owen, Joey, Mike and Lucy. His parents, his wife of 68 years, Lucille; son, Rick; brothers, Adalbert and Bernhard and sisters Anna Brousard and Gertrude Fuller preceded him in death.
