Elsie W. Kokemuller, 92, of Davenport, passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 12:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the mortuary.
Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Elsie was born June 25, 1922 in Maquoketa, IA; the daughter of Jens and Meta (Stoll) Petersen. She was united in marriage to Arnold W. Kokemuller on September 16, 1945; he preceded her in death on June 18, 1999.
Elsie worked at the former W.T. Grant Store, Lutheran Home, Kentucky Fried Chicken and the former St. Luke’s Hospital. After that she worked in various homes and offices and retired in 1990.
She loved her family, flowers and many pen pals she had across the USA, New Zealand and Australia. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church; CASI; AARP; Plus 60 Club and the Silver Services.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons: Lynn (Sharon) Kokemuller, Muscatine and David Kokemuller, (friend, Mickey), Davenport; granddaughters: Jennifer (Douglas) Rogers, Normal, Ill Sarah (Todd) Lopshire, Davenport; grandsons: Jeff (Darcie) Kokemuller, Muscatine and Scott Kokemuller (Michelle Pleasant), Eldridge; great grandchildren: Madison, Taylor and Garrett Kokemuller; Austin and Braydon Kokemuller and Kaylynn and Rebecca Rogers; sister-in-law, Charline Petersen, Maquoketa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Chad; sisters: Gertrude Janett and Mildred Rohlfs and a brother Alvin Petersen.
