Dwain R. Ruser, 79, of Davenport, IA passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport, IA. A memorial service will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 9, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was a member. Dwain was born June 26, 1937 in Davenport, IA a son of Roger and Neoma (Reith) Ruser. He attended Davenport Central High School and graduated with the class of 1956. On April 11, 1964 Dwain married Barbara Arline Carner in Bettendorf. They celebrated 53 years of marriage, renewing their wedding vows during their 50th Anniversary. Dwain was a proud veteran of the Iowa Army National Guard.
Dwain was employed at Lujack’s North Park Auto Plaza where he held various positions throughout nearly 60 years he was with the company. Most recently he was a shuttle driver where he enjoyed meeting and conversing with people from all walks of life.
He will be remembered, for his friendly disposition and great sense of humor. Dwain never met a stranger. He enjoyed weekend breakfasts at different restaurants including: Gramma’s Kitchen, Denny’s, Cracker Barrel and the I-80 Truck Stop, where he was a regular customer with the waitresses. Above all Dwain enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, listening to the Oak Ridge Boys, watching Chicago Cubs games and doing yardwork. He was an avid classic Chevrolet car enthusiast.
Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara, Davenport; daughter, Donna (Tim) Hejhal, Osage, IA; son, Steve (Alyne), Davenport; grandchildren, Sara (Chris) Wernimont, Trevor Hejhal, Danielle (Luke) Wagner, Haley and Elijah Ruser; great granddaughter, Noraa Wernimont, with two more expected in July; sister-in-law, Nadine Carner Jones and several nieces and nephews.
