Doris I. Williams, 79, of Walcott, formerly of Probstei, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Cedar Memorial Christian Church in Davenport. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at The Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. With her spirit in mind, donations will be used for the Doris Williams Christmas Memorial to provide a joyful holiday to local needy children and senior citizens as Christmas was the most important time of year for her. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. Doris was born May 14, 1934 in Ottumwa, IA; the daughter of Gale and Edna (Liblen) Martz. She was united in marriage to Donald Ray Williams Sr. on December 14, 1952 in Ottumwa, IA; he preceded her in death on October 22, 2013. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and caregiver. She touched the lives of all those she came in contact with. She loved to shop, do crafts and vacation in Florida. She worked at Rainbow Florist where she enjoyed working with flowers. She also loved to watch her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Family was her life and she greatly enjoyed cooking for them. She was also an active member of Cedar Memorial Church for over 50 years. Those left to honor her memory include her children: Cindy (Kye) Johnson; Spin (Mindy) Williams; Jeff (Jessi) Williams and Amy (Matt) Coleman; seven grandchildren; five great grandsons; sisters, Dixie Bertroche and Carol (Scott) Treptow; brother, Gale (Cathy) Martz; sister-in-law, Judy Martz and special friends, Kathi Motley and Merle Hill whom she considered family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don, her husband of 60 years, sons, Terry and Matthew and two brothers. Her family would like to extend their special thanks to Dr. Taher Abu -Hejlch, Nicole Palmer, the doctors and nursing staff on floors 3 &4, the medical ICU and the Palliative Care Unit all at the University of Iowa for the wonderful care shown to Doris and her family.
