Donna Kay Jones Luchman, LeClaire, Iowa, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4 – 7pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11am at Weerts Funeral Home; friends may call upon the family starting at 10am. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials is Donna’s name may be made to the RiverBend Food Bank, Davenport, Iowa.
Donna was born on September 26, 1949, at the Hamilton County Hospital, Webster City, Iowa, to Lloyd (Kelly) and Ella Jones of Woolstock, Iowa. After moving to Lehigh, Iowa, she was a very proud attendee of the one room Border Plains School through 4th grade. Donna then graduated from the Central Webster School System in 1967 and from the University of Iowa in 1971. In October 1971, she married Harry W. Luchman; their son, Eric, was born in 1977.
Donna enjoyed bicycling, camping, hiking, and traveling the world. She especially loved fishing trout streams. She began to write down many of the special memories growing up on her family’s farm in North Central Iowa and the many adventures it provided her and her siblings. She shared these stories with her family and friends and helped paint a picture of how special those times were for her. Donna’s love for her family and friends shined through how she lived her life, her kindness, and loyalty to all of them. Donna loved her garden and would ensure it looked beautiful and was meticulously maintained.
Donna worked in the healthcare industry for companies including John Deere Health and United Healthcare. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of LeClaire, IA, and had a special connection with many members, including Melody and Duane Oltman.
Donna spent many special years with the Garvin, Lawrence and Smith families. She was loved by them and celebrated many holidays and special occasions together. They became family for her. Donna loved the Smith children as her own, Ashley, Dresden and Ozzie.
Donna was survived by her son Eric (Maria Gabriela), Winter Garden FL; her grandson Asher, Ahwahnee, CA; her brother Richard Jones (Diane), Perry, IA; sister Teresa Furneaux (David), Des Moines, IA; brothers-in-law Clark Luchman (Julie), Iowa City, IA and Kirk Luchman (Denise), Montrose, CO; nieces and nephews Ben Furneaux, Ryan Jones, Melissa Schlaud, Joseph Luchman, Daniel Luchman and Kathleen Schmit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry and her parents.
