Donald was born on May 16, 1947, the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Benda) Schlitter in Davenport, IA. After graduating from Assumption High School, Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was employed at Oscar Mayer for 30 years before retiring.
Don loved sports, bowling, golf, baseball, and football. He was a very active golfer, enjoying many early morning rounds. He found relaxation going to the casino, playing slots or card games. He was also a member of Holy Family Church.
Donald is survived by brother, David (Sharon) Schlitter; sister, Rita Walker; nephew, Cory (Madie) Patterson; nieces, Kerry (Marc) Mathes and Krista (Tom) Kellenberger; along with many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Schlitter; brother-in-law, Buz Walker; and great nephew, Demitry Mathes.
