Donald G. Jones

Per his wishes he will be cremated. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary followed by a celebration of life gathering at 6:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Chester Cemetery in Poweshiek County at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Ambrose University or the Child Abuse Council in Moline, IL.

Don was born a son of Robert T. Jones II and Estelle (DeBeauchamp) Jones in New Jersey. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was united in marriage to Norma (Harris) Jones on August 2, 1969 in Grinnell, IA. Don graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1976. He managed Big Boy restaurants and later retired from the Rock Island Arsenal where he served as a quality assurance specialist. Don enjoyed volunteering his time at the East Moline Correctional Center, being a volunteer speaker for the Child Abuse Council in Moline, and was a member of the Hamilton Masonic Lodge in Bettendorf.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Norma; son, Derek (Tracy) Jones; step grandchildren, Andrew and Ashley Nesseler; siblings, April McGuirt of Florida, Robert Tatum Jones III of California and Gene Herrick of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
