Dawn “Sidekick” D. Boyd, 56, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She joined her loving parents. Funeral services will be at 2:30 PM Friday, May 11, 2012 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the family. She was born on January 29, 1956 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Charles A. and Verona (Hodges) Potter. She was united in marriage to Jerry Boyd on June 25, 1988 in Davenport.
Dawn was a bus driver for Durham School District (Pleasant Valley), a fire truck driver for the city of Davenport Recreational Parks and a licensed cosmetologist.
She liked to camp and fish, enjoyed her grandchildren and loved her family.
Those celebrating her memory include: her loving companion and husband, Jerry Boyd; daughter, Angela Gomez; son Rich (Hope) Gordon; stepchildren, Sandy (Russell) Hughes and Jay (Teresa) Boyd; siblings, Dewey (Becky) Potter, Tim Potter and Brian (Kim) Potter; grandchildren Jake and Trevor Gomez, Christian and Richie Gordon, Bonita Gordon and Charity Stark; step grandchildren, Christopher (Courtney) Hughes and Joshua Hughes, Robert and Emily Boyd; and great grandchild, Aleigha Gordon and step great grandchild, Bentley Ray Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Christian Gordon, Jr.
Everyone is invited to a reception following Dawn’s service at the Road Runner Coyote Café on Rockingham Road.
