David C. Young, 83, of Davenport passed away Friday February 21, 2014 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House Bettendorf. Cremation has been done with a Celebration service to be held 10:00AM Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Davenport. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House or the Church. On line condolences may be shared at www.rungemortuary.com.
David was on born February 2, 1931 in Davenport to LaVerne & Mabel (Lanfier) Young. He was united in marriage to Reva Anderson on November 29, 1952 in Davenport, IA.
David had served 24 years in the Naval Reserves before his retirement. He had been employed at Iowana Farms, S.J. Smith Co., Matthews Office Supply, and Davenport Printing Comp. from where he retired in 2013.
David was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Davenport, CASI, & QC plus Sixty Club. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the New York Yankees, loved to golf and had been part of the Muni Club Golf League for 40 years.
Cards were also a part of his life as he & his wife participated in their card club for over 55 years.
David is survived by his wife Reva Young Davenport; 2 daughters Wendi Pena, Davenport, and Susan (Greg) Maylum, Princeton, IA; 6 grandchildren Rebecca (Harvey) Wiley, Andrew, Laura, Alissa, Melissa, Nina Maylum; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Marion Sullivan, Houston, TX and June Ruble, Vancouver, WA; sister in law Joan Gurin, Davenport; and several nieces & nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
